for REG COBRA participants

welcome to chevron COBRA benefits

Chevron Corporation recently acquired Renewable Energy Group (REG). As part of integration efforts, effective January 1, 2023, REG COBRA benefits will transition to Chevron COBRA benefits, and the administration of COBRA benefits will transition from Optum Financial (Optum) to BenefitConnect | COBRA. As a result, there are important changes to your current COBRA plans, billing, payment and enrollment process. Your action is required.

Use the tabs above for quick access to key information for the Chevron COBRA benefits transition.

Your monthly premium cost for COBRA coverage will change effective January 1, 2023.

The cost for Chevron COBRA coverage is different than the REG cost of coverage. Your new Chevron COBRA coverage cost will begin with the effective date of Chevron coverage. The 2023 Benefit Election Information you will receive from BenefitConnect | COBRA will outline the new cost for the Chevron plan choices available to you.

In addition, please note that the cost of behavioral health coverage is currently included with REG medical benefit coverage. At Chevron, there is a separate cost for a separate plan, the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder (MHSUD) Plan, for this coverage; behavioral health coverage is not included with Chevron medical coverage.

Your billing and payment process is changing.

Your action is required to ensure your premium payments are paid with the new COBRA administrator, BenefitConnect | COBRA. More information about this change is included in the information mailed to your home. Optum will not process premium payments received after December 20, 2022; payments received after this date will not be applied to your account. It is your sole responsibility to ensure payments are timely routed to BenefitConnect | COBRA to ensure your health coverage continues.

Benefit summaries, including the Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBCs), provide summary information about your health plans, such as benefits, copayments, deductibles, and coinsurance. This is an easy way to get basic coverage information about your plan. If you still have more questions about specific coverage details, we strongly encourage you to contact the health plan directly to discuss your personal situation.

Continuation of care (also referred to as transition care) allows you to continue to receive care for certain conditions from providers who do not participate in your new plan’s network. You might need continuation of care if you are already in active treatment for certain ongoing conditions on January 1, 2023 and your provider is not in your new plan's network.
