The federal legislation known as the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows certain employees and their covered dependents to continue participation in company sponsored health care plans beyond the time when it would normally end. COBRA is only available for certain plans. See each plan’s summary plan description for further information about COBRA coverage (if available). The Chevron Human Resources Service Center will send you an enrollment package within 44 days after your termination date. The package includes a personalized enrollment worksheet, your costs for coverage, and detailed information about enrollment procedures and payment requirements. You must elect continuation coverage within 60 days of the date your COBRA package is postmarked.

Open enrollment is your annual opportunity to review your benefit options for the coming year. During open enrollment you can decide to keep the coverage you currently have or make changes, such as switching to another medical plan option (if available), adding a dependent to your coverage, or or starting to participate in other voluntary benefit options. If you miss the open enrollment deadline, you generally can’t make any changes until the next open enrollment period. However, you can make changes to certain benefits outside of the open enrollment period if it’s within the 31-day deadline after a qualifying life event, such as a marriage or birth. Tobacco use status cannot be changed during the year, even if you experience a qualifying life event. Chevron open enrollment held every year, typically the last two weeks in October. For more information, including open enrollment resources and instructions, see the Open Enrollment page.
