work and life
Work is an important part of your life, but it's not the only part. Chevron’s work and life benefits are designed to support you at work and beyond.

transition guide
NEW! General information about how you will transition to Chevron’s time away benefits and policies.
Chevron’s benefits and policies are designed to give you time to recharge, heal and focus on your loved ones, so you can be healthy in all aspects of your life.
Chevron's time away from work benefits are divided into three main categories:
- For your own injury, illness, disability or medical condition
- To care for your family
- To balance work and life
Time away at Chevron is divided into separate banks instead of combined into one. These banks have separate amounts, grow at different rates and have different rules for using them. Your time away banks are not interchangeable. For example, time away for vacation or a doctor appointment for your child are taken from two different banks.
Chevron offers disability insurance for short- and long-term needs through two main benefit plans:
short-term disability plan (STD Plan)
The STD Plan provides several distinct types of benefits, each with separate, distinct time banks. The short-term disability benefit under the plan provides a portion of your pay if you are unable to work due to a qualifying illness, injury, or medical condition. The short-term disability benefit is also available for time away to give birth or to visit a primary care provider to receive preventive care. Learn more ›
long-term disability plan (LTD Plan)
The Long-Term Disability Plan provides benefits to eligible employees who remain disabled for an extended period of time. Learn more ›
coordination with other policies, programs or laws
Chevron’s disability plans work in coordination with other Chevron leave of absence policies and any illness, injury or disability benefits through federal, state or local laws that may apply to you.
short-term disability plan (STD Plan)
In addition to coverage for your own illness, injury or medical condition, the STD Plan provides several other types of benefits to help you care for family, each with its own distinct time banks:
- Bonding benefit – For parents welcoming a new child
- Family care benefit – To care for family due to illness, injury or medical condition, including health appointments
- Extended family care benefit – To care for an eligible family member with a serious health condition

leaves of absence
Several types of leaves of absence – some with pay and some without pay – are available to employees if you need support while you address family needs. You’ll have access to these policies when you have full access to Chevron’s intranet in 2026.
holidays
Chevron recognizes fixed date holidays in each operating area according to local significance. Fixed holidays observed may vary depending on your work schedule. In addition, depending on your work schedule and the local holiday schedule, one or two floating holidays, called a Personal Choice Holiday (PCH), are also available. Learn more ›
vacation
Chevron’s vacation policy provides you with time off to relax and recharge. You can review the full Vacation Policy when you have full access to Chevron’s intranet in 2026. Until then, you can learn more by reading about:
compressed workweeks
With compressed workweeks, you work longer days in exchange for additional days off. Chevron offers compressed workweeks, including a 9/80 schedule, as an alternative to the standard 5/40 work schedule (five 8-hour days/40 hours per week). A compressed workweek schedule is designed to allow you time to balance your work and personal or family needs. Learn more ›
