Anthem Cyber Attack

February 18, 2015

As you have likely heard on the news, there has been a cyber attack potentially involving millions of Anthem customers. From 2002 through 2009, Anthem was a third party administrator under the Omnibus Health Care Plan of Chevron Corporation (the "Omnibus Plan"). The Omnibus Plan encompasses Chevron's U.S.-based health care plans including the Medical PPO Plan as administered by Blue Cross of California, BC Life and Health, and Anthem Blue Cross during the relevant time period. Chevron has not used Anthem since 2009. Anthem has advised that information prior to 2004 was not subject to the cyber attack.

Anthem is working to close the security vulnerability, is cooperating with law enforcement agencies who are investigating the incident, and has alerted partners - including Chevron - that their health care plans have been potentially affected. Anthem has established a website, www.AnthemFacts.com, and a toll-free number 1-877-263-7995 for current and former members who have questions regarding this incident. You will be notified directly by Anthem if you were affected. Anthem has also posted information on www.AnthemFacts.com about how current and former members can immediately enroll in credit monitoring and identity theft repair services provided by AllClear ID. You can access these services prior to receiving a mailed notification from Anthem.
