Disability Management

The Chevron Disability Management Program is a company program you must follow in order to get any disability benefits you may be eligible to receive when you can't work because of an illness or injury. The program also tracks absences covered under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) and related state leave laws.

When to Use This Web Site
Use this Web site to find out what you need to do if any of the following apply:
  • You're absent from work for more than five consecutive workdays due to an illness or injury, whether it occurred on the job or off the job.

  • You're absent from work for any length of time for a reason that's covered under FMLA or a related state leave law and you want job protection for your absence, including time off to get medical treatment for your own serious health condition, time off to care for a seriously ill family member, or time off to bond with a newborn, newly adopted child, or a newly placed foster child.

  • You're a California employee and you want to apply for the Paid Family Leave Insurance program (PFL).

  • You're ready to return to work following an illness or injury.

  • Your job requires you to administer, code or manage employee absences.

Who Needs to Follow This Program
All U.S.-payroll employees who are covered under the Chevron Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) plans are required to follow this program. See What You Need to Do – Employee for step-by-step instructions. This includes U.S.-payroll resident expatriate and rotational expatriate employees.

Note: You're not required to follow the program if you're employed by a Chevron company that provides you with a separate set of benefits; for example, union-represented employees who work at P&M Coal or employees who are eligible for Chevron's international benefit plans.

What Happens If You Don't Follow This Program
If you don't follow the Disability Management Program and complete the steps you need to take to report and certify your absence in a timely manner, you will disqualify yourself from being eligible to receive Chevron disability benefits and job protection under FMLA and related state leave laws. Your supervisor and local management will be notified accordingly.
